Miku

Do you love aburi, otherwise known as flame-seared sushi? Then Miku is a must-go for lunch or dinner plans as the founder (Seigo Nakamura) behind the trendy hotspot pioneered aburi sushi in Canada. Miku is located next to Canada Place with views of Burrard Inlet, which leads to the Pacific Ocean. On both its lunch and dinner menus, the restaurant offers raw options, appetizers, entrées, small plates, aburi sushi, and sushi rolls. Miku also has a set menu available for $150.

Momo Sushi
- Location: 6-375 Water St.
With over three thousand positive Google reviews and a 4.5 star rating, Momo Sushi in Vancouver’s Gastown is a tried and true staple that has been feeding the city’s residents for over half a decade. With maki rolls only costing between $5 and $9, Momo Sushi is still just as affordable. Its menu contains several different types of rolls, oshi and aburi sushi, sashimi, tempura, donburi bowls, and appetizers.

Hello Nori is a popular sushi handroll eatery with four locations across the Lower Mainland on Robson Street, at Park Royal Shopping Centre, at Brentwood Town Centre, and in Richmond. Hello Nori offers a variety of handroll fillings, including unagi, octopus, spicy shrimp, and tamago. Diners can choose between ordering handrolls à la carte, or three set menus that range between $27 and $39.

Kishimoto

Located in the vibrant Commercial Drive neighbourhood, Kishimoto has been serving up delicious sushi rolls, oshiri, nigiri, and its signature chirashi boxes since 2011. Founded by chef Akira Kishimoto, the sushi eatery brings Japanese culinary culture to Vancouver. In 2024, Kishimoto won gold for Best Japanese in the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and over 30 other awards since its opening. Not a big raw fish fan? Kishimoto also serves wagyu broth ramen, sous vide duck soba, okonomiyaki, and chicken katsu.

Tom Sushi

Tom Sushi is another sushi spot that offers tasty yet affordable options in the heart of Vancouver. Located on Davie Street in the city’s 2SLGBTQ+ community. Tom Sushi is helmed by Chef Tom Jeon, who has been making sushi for over 10 years. The restaurant has an extensive menu, with options including sashimi, tempura, maki rolls, yakisoba, donburis, and “Tom’s special don.”
