Canadians are heading to Italy more than anywhere else abroad this summer, while Quebec City remains the country’s favourite domestic getaway, according to new booking data from GuruWalk.
The company’s latest rankings, based on thousands of Canadian bookings and survey responses, show European cities continue to dominate international travel while Canadians are also rediscovering destinations closer to home.

Free walking tour company GuruWalk ranked Canadians’ favourite summer travel destinations, and the results might surprise you.
In 2025, Spain ranked first among Canadians’ summer travel destinations, but Italy has reshuffled the rankings.
For travel between June 21 and September 22, Italy ranked first, with 13 per cent of Canadians booking free walking tours, up from third place in 2025. Spain follows closely behind with 9 per cent.
Here’s where Canadians are going in Italy.
- Rome: 46.5 per cent
- Florence: 19.5 per cent
- Venice: 14.5 per cent
- Milan: 6.5 per cent
- Catania: 4 per cent
- Bologna: 3 per cent
Spain, the rival and runner-up in the ranking, has many bookings across the country, from the south to the north, too.
- Barcelona: 35 per cent
- Madrid: 21.5 per cent
- Seville: 10 per cent
- Málaga: 4.5 per cent
- Valencia: 4 per cent
- Bilbao: 3.5 per cent
Domestic travel
Staycations can be just as fun, and cheaper too. GuruWalk data ranks Quebec City as Canadians’ favourite staycation, with 33.5 per cent bookings, and Montreal is climbing from sixth to second in the ranking with 23 per cent.
“We’re delighted to see that, for Canadians too, summer means discovery, whether that’s crossing an ocean or rediscovering a corner of their own country,” Belén Casanova, head of supply at GuruWalk said in a press release.
